Vacqueyras Les Truffieres Domaine des Amouriers 2012
In 1985, Domaine des Amouriers chose independence for its winemakers, marking the beginning of revival. Today, it produces four appellations, mainly Vacqueyras, in the respect of well-made work, with low yields. Its wines are always pleasant, fruity and well-balanced.
Warm days give prominence to barbecues. Lamb with paprika and grilled aubergines. I set my sights on Vacqueyras ‘les truffières’ 2009 by domaine des Amouriers. It was as in my memories, powerful and classy. Made up of 45% Syrah and 55% Grenache, the smell is very fruity, like red and black berries marmalade. Spices and vegetal notes complete the aromatic expression, with laurel, clove and garrigue herbs. Minerality brings lot of power and style to this wine. There are lots of tannins, which give a light astringency, that goes well with the fat of meat. As a result, we ate… and drank everything!
